Fisheries Enhancement (led by Matt Taylor (DPI) and Iain Suthers)

Environmental factors affecting recruitment of exploited crab species in NSW estuaries.

PhD projects dealing with aspects of the research program “Informing adaptive management of portunid fisheries in New South Wales”, jointly run by NSW Department of Primary Industries – Fisheries and University of NSW, are available for commencement in 2018/19.

This project will employ a range of techniques to sample populations of Blue Swimmer Crab and Giant Mud Crab juveniles across a number of NSW estuaries, over multiple years. Patterns in population abundance will be linked to environmental variability, habitat, and oceanography.
